Christmas 2007

This Christmas, most of us in the family seemed to get a dose of the 'flu. You can see the effect it had on me from the picture to the left. In spite of this, we managed to have a very good time.
On Christmas Eve, Cynthia cooked a beautiful meal for the family. Andi and Tim were here along with Charlotte and Oliver. Jean and Ron came, along with Frances Smith, a 96 year old client of Ben's who would otherwise have been on her own that evening. Ben and Josée were also here of course as they are still living with us at the moment while their new home is being renovated. Christmas Eve was the only time Tim and Andi could come for a meal too, as they were off to see Andi's parents on Christmas Day.
The meal went beautifully as usual and we ate and drank well, with lively conversation around the table. After dinner we all chatted some more, then it was time for Tim and Andi to get the children off home and to bed. Of course, they also had to get the goodies ready for Santa and the reindeer!
The rest of us headed up to the living room where Josée had rigged her laptop to a projector and sound system. On the computer she has stored 10 000 song titles and music in a karaoke format. Once we got going on the program, the songs came thick and fast and we sang until 11.15 when Ben took Frances home. Jean and Ron left about then too and gradually the evening came to a close.
Our guests had enjoyed themselves so much that we had missed the evening service we were going to attend at Living Word Church. However, the Lord knows that we honour the birth of Jesus in our hearts. I also don't think He would have been too happy with us if we had shut the evening down and asked our guests to leave, in order to go to church.
On Saturday Dec. 29th., our family went to see the local group's panto called Snow White. It was a good show, originally done by folks in the valley with a brand new script and original music all written for this show. The cast was largely made up of local children with four or five adults thrown into the mix. It all worked well.
Ben and Josée had a day up Mt. Washington where they tried snow-shoeing, with Tegan their dog roaring around enjoying herself too. They had a marvellous time up there in what were ideal conditions. They came home tired but very happy. Tegan the mastiff flopped on her bed in the basement and never moved a muscle for the rest of the evening.
